On December 2, Varna was officially switched on the first road segment in Bulgaria with LED lamps for street lighting. The line includes 186 LED lamps, Class A, installed along the 3.8 km road between the Airport and the city. A demonstration project has been implemented in line with Directive 2005/32/EC, adopted by the European Union for use of energy-efficient products.

LED lamps are supplied by the Interservice Uzunovi Plc – a company which is authorized distributor for Bulgaria of the Japanese technology giant SHARP. This is the first project for LED street lighting equipment of the Japanese company in Europe.
With this edge LED lighting, Varna became the first city in Bulgaria, which implements eco-friendly lighting, which also significantly reduces the cost of the municipality and will significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and the lack of harmful materials in the production cycle of lighting will prevent environmental pollution.
LED lamps are one of the recent product lines of SHARP. Manufacture of LED lighting for street and park lighting is the result of almost 40 years of research activities of the Japanese company.
